We have also been very excited about our experiment. Here are the latest photos of our Hairy Harrys – one that has had no soil, one with no water and one that has had no sunlight.

What do you notice? Why is this so?

We have decided to take the Hairy Harry out of the cupboard and see what happens. Do you think something will change?

Hairy Harrys!

We have been very busy in Prep thinking about what living things need. To help us learn we made Hairy Harrys. We learnt that living things need water, food and light to grow. So we decided to see what would happen if we made one Hairy Harry and put it in the cupboard (no light), one with no soil (just seeds) and one with no water.

After a few days we checked our experiment and this is what we discovered:

No light, no water and no soil

What do you notice about the colour of the Hairy harry that has had no light?

No water?

No soil?

We will keep on watching and observing our Hairy harrys to see what happens!

Here we are!

How EGG-citing!

Over the last two weeks in Prep we have been very lucky to have a chicken hatching program. Our big question for Inquiry this term is ‘What do living things need?’ We have watched the chickens hatch and grow very quickly and have learnt what they need. Each day we looked closely at our chickens and filled in our Chicken Journals. We made new discoveries and learnt many interesting things. Here are our discoveries and photos of us holding our very special visitors.
