We also created a live graph of our favourite footy teams. Here is Prep V’s live graph:

We talked about the graph. Here is what we came up with:

Collingwood and Essendon were the same on 3 – Gemma

The tigers, crows and kangaroos were the least – Jordan

The hawks were the most on 4 – Ken

Carlton and no football team were the same – Grace

What do you like about football?

Can you tell us something else about our graph?

Fire Fighters visit

What a fantastic way to finish off our very busy and exciting week with a second visit from Firefighters Len, Peter, Mark and Adrian. They reminded us of the special fire messages we heard about last visit. They were very impressed at how much the Preps remembered!

Then we went out to the fire truck to have some fun!!

A big thank you to our wonderful Firefighters who do so much to educate our children and keep everyone in our Community safe. We appreciate all that you do.

We think there are some budding firefighters in Prep. They look so professional!! (Mrs Yore’s car was sparkling by the time we were finished)

Preps, ask Mum or Dad to help you write a comment about the important fire safety messages you have learnt. We will share them at school.

Check out the fun below. Thank you Len for being so amazing with our Preps.

What fire safety messages have you learnt?

Book Week 2016

Australia! Story Country.
We love Book Week. It is a wonderful celebration of the books we love to read. Thank you to all our amazing Australian authors and illustrators – so many beautiful stories to share over and over and over.

Tell us about your favourite book!

PJ Day!

PJ Day is a special day at St. Luke’s. The whole school – teachers too! – come to school in their PJs to help raise money for Melbourne City Mission. Melbourne City Mission supports people in our community who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. It is a day when we stop to think about how lucky we are to have warm beds and nice homes, especially over our freezing winter months. We are very proud of our Preps who advertise the day and help raise awareness of those around us who are less fortunate.
We had a fun day making toast, designing PJs for our bears, making a graph of our favourite toast toppings and bringing our bed time buddies to school for the day. We also stopped to remember how grateful we are for all that we have. We raised $340.00 for Melbourne City Mission this year. Thank you to our school community for your amazing generosity.
Why do we have PJ Day?
We give money to the poor who don’t have homes. Harvey
We give money to the people who have to sleep on the streets. Lucas
On PJ Day we wear our pyjamas to school. Lachie
We raise money for the poor people. Tom
Here are some photos of the day.

At the start of the term we went to the RSPCA and learnt about the needs of animals and how we can look after them. We also met some amazing animals that are apart of the RSPCA family.

Bubbles, bubbles, beautiful bubbles!

We have had a very busy week in Prep. Prep V and Prep K came together to blow bubbles on the hill. We all made a big circle and tried to blow as many bubbles as we could. We had so much fun! Bubbles make us very happy.

We watched a beautiful short film called ‘Bubbles‘ from the Literacy Shed by Gabriela Zapata. We noticed that when the little girl was sad the music was quiet and the colours of the sky were dark. When the little girl found the bottle of bubbles the music became happy and the colours around the little girl were bright. After her adventure the little girl shared her happiness with someone else.

Reflecting on Term Two!

After a very busy term it was time to reflect on our learning. We are very proud of our beautiful Preps and all the enthusiasm and wonder they bring to their learning. Congratulations on a fabulous term, you have learnt so much! Thank you to all our parents and families who have supported us throughout this first semester.

I learnt about the lifecycle of a butterfly. The butterfly lays an egg and then it turns into a caterpillar. A butterfly comes out of the chrysalis when the wings are dry and it grows bigger the butterfly flies and lays eggs. Jordan

I learnt how to count by tens and how to look after the chickens. I also learnt that plants need water, sun and food to grow. Erica

I learnt about our Hairy Heads. We need to look after our Hairy Heads by giving them lots of sunshine, water, soil and plant food. The Hairy heads grow and change when we give them these things. Olivia

I learnt that beanstalks have roots and grow in the ground. They need sun and water to grow. I also learnt that caterpillars turn into chrysalis and then into a butterfly. Ken

I learnt how to write words and sentences. Plants need water, air, sun seeds and soil to breathe and grow. Zoe

I learnt how flowers grow, first you get a seed and then you plant it in the soil. Then you water it and put it near the sun. Then it grows. Annie
